Terms of use
Last updated October 2026
- Studybook is a free, invite-only service run by Jord, provided as it is.
- Your notes are yours. Keep your account secure and use Studybook fairly.
- AI answers and fact-checks can be wrong, so check anything important.
- Keep your own backups of notebooks that matter to you.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Jord, who runs Studybook at studybook.dev. By creating an account you agree to them and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Studybook.
Your account
- Accounts are by invitation only, and each account is for one person.
- Keep your password to yourself, and turn on two-step sign-in. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- If you think someone else has got into your account, sign out your other devices in Settings, Account, change your password, and tell Jord.
Your notes
Everything you put in Studybook stays yours. You give Jord permission to store it, copy it for backups and process it as needed to run Studybook for you, including sending it to Anthropic's Claude service when you use the AI features. Only upload material you have the right to use, and nothing illegal.
AI features
- Practice questions, explanations, readings of scanned pages and fact-checks are produced by AI. They can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important against a reliable source; Studybook is not professional advice.
- If you add your own Claude API key, Anthropic charges you directly for what you use, and Anthropic's terms apply to that use.
- If Jord lets your account use their API key, that can be switched off at any time.
Using Studybook fairly
Don't try to get into other people's accounts or into the server, interfere with how Studybook works, overload it on purpose, or use it for anything illegal or harmful.
Availability and changes
Studybook is a small personal project, provided free and "as is". It may sometimes be unavailable, and features may change. If Studybook is going to close, Jord will try to give you notice so you can save your notebooks. Make your own backups regularly in Settings, Backups.
Ending your use
You can stop using Studybook at any time and ask for your account to be deleted. Jord may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why where possible.
Responsibility
As far as the law allows, Jord is not responsible for lost data, mistakes in AI-generated content, or any indirect loss from using Studybook. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that cannot legally be limited.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The new version will be posted here with a new date, and you'll be told about important changes. Carrying on using Studybook after a change means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions? Email [email protected].
